Hill Day: Switching up your cardio to burn more calories

It felt so good yesterday we had to move the workout outdoors! I absolutely love hills (or any incline really) for a quick yet intense workout. There were only a couple of actual breaks in this workout. The jogging downhill served as an active recovery from the plyometrics and strength exercises. This turns your workout into a cardio session without the dreaded feeling of repetitiveness you get when you do traditional steady state cardio like jogging or elliptical. The alternating between periods of high and low intensity keeps your body working to adjust to the exercise and you burn way more calories in less time compared to steady state cardio as well. Try switching your cardio sessions up. I bet you'll hate it so much less!
